Resolved Question: Advice on a girl I like.?
I like this girl from Thailand. Me and her are better friends now than when we were in high school. We were always shy towards each other. Me and her can only be friends cause she said she only likes me as a pal. She said If I were Hmong then things might be different. I still like her and I told her this. On her myspace It says she's in a relationship. I told her," I didnt know your in a relationship. Thats good." I said it that way cause It was to difficult to ask If she had a boyfriend. She said she wasnt in one. I asked her, If the message about me still liking her freaked her out? And also that we need to talk about it. She said hold on that. Her english isnt the best so her writing isnt the best either. What did she mean by hold on that? Did she mean lets not talk about that right now? What should I do? I havent messaged her since she told me that.

Resolved Question: Feelings toward a friend. Kinda long but please help me?
I have a pal named look. She is from Thailand. I met her junior year. I had noticed she would grin at me quite alot. I was int he library and was checking her out, she turned around and smiled at me. Senior year my feelings grew. We would talk once in a while, but were always shy towards eachother. When Valentines came around I gave her a gift, when Christmas came around I gave her a gift. When prom came around I was to shy to ask her, so a pal asked for me, I was with him when he did it, she said yes. We were at prom where she shed her innocent image. I experienced my first freak dance. She moved so quick, I could'nt keep up with her. Anyways during the summer we were messaging eachother over myspace. I told her I liked her, but she said she only liked me as a pal, she said If I was Hmong we could be together, I am Mexican. I've tried to receive over her, but every I have to do is look a picure of her or talk to her and my feelings arrive back. On her myspace profile she put she was in a realtionship, theres a pal she has that messages her and Im starting to think he likes her. He sent a message saying she was his tv and radio and every this. I recently told her that I still liked her. What should I do? Should I give up even though I cant? Should I ask her about this guy? WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?

Resolved Question: Middle school lunchroom disasters?
Yeah well today was the first day of school and lunch is already probably my worst hour. Its almost impossible to find a place to sit and already a bunch of new kids are sitting in cliques of six or so people. Its sort of scary there was this one girl I was talking to and we were like standing around looking for somewhere to sit and if we went to sit with someone else it would seem weird or something. My school is basically made up of hmong kids, white kids and black kids, it seems as if they receive over better and its weird, the girl I talked to is mexican and i'm filipino and its not like you can just blend in with other kids. Sometimes I know people go sit on the stage (cafeteria connected to theater room) but I haven't seen anyone do that yet. How to make this more comfortable? I know lots of kids sit for the relax of the year where they sat on the first day of school and I'm not going to sit at some random table with everyone just staring at me!

Resolved Question: Rude interviewer or Was I Just Too Sensitive?
I sent in my resume last night, got a call the very next morning to go in for an interview the next day. When I arrived at the interview, I was asked to filled out their employment application. While doing that, the interviewer came passed me three different times in which I looked up at her, but was not greeted. When I completed the form, after about a few minutes the interviewer welcomed me with a strong hand crushing handshake. I said it was very nice to meet her, but she did not respond nor smiled not a word. We went into her office and I was asked to take a seat. I noticed she had my resume printed on her desk ready to discussed. The minute she looked at my resume, she rolled her eyes, sighed, and threw her chin to her hand and said, "I didn't realized you haven't work for so long." Keep in mind, that everything she was saying to me was in a very rude demeaning attitude way. So....this is exactly what was said and how it went... With that statement that she made, I quickly explained that that was because I was schooling full time, then I took some time off to be with my newborn. Now that my newborn is bigger, I'm trying to receive back into the workforce. She looked at my education section and stated, "You went to school for four years and did not receive your degree!" I felted so insulted because she didn't even give me the chance to explain why that was so. With that said, again I quickly jumped in to say that I only have a year left upon graduation, but right now my child is my top priority. She gave me a disgusting look, and asked me, "What makes you think you're qualified for this job!?" I remained my composure, and said that I only got a very brief description of the job and if she would help tell me more about the position. She laughed at me and said, "Whatever you read on the ad is what it is!" Note: this was only a facilitator position. They were looking for someone who is bilangual in hmong/english. So I explained my qualifications to be interrupted with, "So you only applied for this position only because you can talk hmong/english!" I'm like, no that is not the reason why. I explained that I went to school in wish that I could step foot into the non-profit industry, which they were. I wanted to learn more about how non-profit sectors work and how they run. I wanted to learn about their services, so I can let others know there is resources, and that was why I was there. She replied, "Oh! So you want to become an investigator!" Mocking me... Then she said, "Why are you telling me textbook stuff, don't tell me textbook stuff. I've been doing this for years, I know!" Like everything I said was wrong. She follows up with, "Tell me from the bottom of your heart why you think you're the best fit for this position?" I was dumbfounded because everything I would say was shoved back in my face. She askes, "Who would I contact as references, since you've never worked a full-time job before!" I responded that she can call every of my previous employers and I wouldn't have a problem, not only that but my advisors from school. She laughed at me again, and said, "You want me to call your previous employers when you've only worked for them for a short time???" Of course this was more of a rhetorical question. She cuts it off short and told me what to expect next week. She also emphasized to me that she received several applications. (yeah right...that's why they called me in for the interview so quickly, right?) She asked if I had any questions for her. I asked what she thought is the most challenging aspect of the position, and she said that the african americans and hispanic population are very rude. Then said that asians on the other hand don't like to make noise, and even if they got pounded on, they still wouldn't do anything. That was enough for me, so I just thanked her. She got up, open the door and guide me out. Again, bone crushing handshake without a thank you, but a "Goodbye." So, what do you guys think? Am I just too sensitive about it or she was really rude and inconsiderate? It's not my fault that she didn't look at my resume carefully before the interview. Wasted my time, so she can mock me, giggle at me, insult me, and discourage me. Not to mention that I am more than qualified for that position. She gave me attitude right off the bat. I feel that I didn't receive a chance at every. I feel hurt, and would like to do something about it. Please let me know what steps to take and some of your insights. Thank you so much for reading! Forgot to mention that she is vice president of human resource in their company. For those of you who may think that it might have been a tactic she was using, I don't think that was the case. They're actually a client where my husband works at, and my husband's secretary told him that she knows the lady that interviewed me. The lady is known to be very blunt. Still, there is no acceptions to treat any potential employees in that manner. Obviously, I wouldn't want to work for them regardless if I'm asked to go back for another interview or not, but I would hate for another person to go through with what I did. I must say, it was definitely a good learning experience.

Voting Question: I would LOVE your opinion about this essay I wrote for college applications?
If you can just spare 5 mins to read this and post a opinion, it'll be greatly appreciated! Kuv yoj Hmong. I am Hmong. An obvious way of saying that “I am an immigrant who has arrive from another country that is more than twenty thousand miles way from home and want to have a better life in America”. My dad and mom luckily crossed the “river” on foot safely and came to the United States of America to form a more decent life with their family. That was before they both got married and were only a couple years old. Ever since I hit twelve years old, I was told that once I become a teenager, I would have to clean up the home and cook for my parents. But I was the big “rebel”. I bended their rules, I don’t cook for my parents, and sometimes I even lie to them. Each year I hit one year older and each time I felt the pressure of a need for an older example in the home. No matter how difficult I try, things are always in the way. That includes my siblings, school, and being an obedient older daughter. I join clubs and activities at school because I like being social with my peers. I wanted to learn to be independent and I know that being independent for me will be difficult. My parents have babied me until this very day and I’ve realized that it’s not as easy as it seems. Trying to balance school, family, and life every at the same time makes me feel depressed. And by getting over it is mostly by sleeping. Like what Hamlet says in William Shakespeare “To be or not to be, that is the question, whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer, the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing, end them; to die, to snooze.” One day, I told my dad that I hated being Hmong. The reason being is that I was supposed to be taught to learn how to be a good home-wife, yet, still maintain a family by doing the usual household chores. And especially be obedient to the husband (of which, I was always against of because I never look men as more superior than women). My dad said “ You can not take the Hmong out of you”. End of conversation. I then decided that I will learn the ways by myself since my parents never really had the time to tutor me. I would cook things on my possess, clean up the home and do the laundry. I would even try to do everything in my life independently. I will try to help the women cook during religious ceremonies or parties and try to blend in. But somehow, I was always left out no matter what. It made me very frustrated. I’ve arrive to realize that I will never be a traditional Hmong wife. I can’t cook like they do, nor can I even blend in, at every. It may seem that in our culture, I am a rather lazy spoiled girl who can’t seem to do things on my possess, but that’s just how it looks. Mentally, I am constantly running and trying to impress people every the time. It’s not who I am, it’s just who I want to be! So then I gave up. What ever people wanted to say about me, they can say it. It will put me down but wouldn’t bring me from going up. Even though I am not good at cooking or cleaning or anything relevant, I am good at school. Being a housewife won’t let me make it far in terms of knowledge and what the world is every about. I intend to stay in school because I can receive further in life. I will know how to make money and make life worth-while. Know how to receive by and just knowing that when I go to snooze, I’d be glad.

Resolved Question: How can I go out of state without my parents but with my husband?
I am 17 years of age but I'm culturally married. We haven't done the wedding yet but I'm considered his wife since i live with him. In my culture the guy has to arrive up with about 10,000 dollars in cash. To do the wedding which will be about 3,000 dollars and about 5,000- 7,000 for the price of the girl. To be more clear about my culture I'm Hmong. A shaman. In my culture the girl can be married at any age. i.e. 13 or 14 which is when my mom was married. Also we can be married to a guy at any age even if he is like 3 times our age. But, the only thing that my culture forbids is marrying someone with the same last name as us. This is so because they are like our siblings. I'm married to my husband which we have been dating for 1 year now. We have been married since April 26, 2008. We are planing to move out of state and live with his brother by the end of this year without his parents or mines. But, I'm not sure we could do that since I'm still a minor. Anyone has a suggestion of what i should do to be able to go? Or maybe i should stay until I'm legally able to go?

Resolved Question: What if the next President of the United States, regardless of party, said, "We have won the war in Iraq"?
Yeah yeah, I know. You're thinking that's very "1984", "he who controls the past", historical revisionist; and isn't that what W tried to tug with that aircraft carrier and that whole "mission accomplished" thing? That's actually not quite what I'm thinking. I know that I'm not the only one who's said that tactically and strategically we've won the war on the ground in Iraq. And, I'm not just talking about how we won the war against Saddam's Iraq. Nor am I just talking about kill ratios, and how we've killed alot more insurgents than there have been U.S. and other troops killed. I mean heck we did the same thing in Vietnam. You may remember the anecdote of the U.S. and Vietnamese diplomat at the Paris talks. How the American says "you know we've won every battle we fought with each other"; and the Vietnamese diplomat responds "that is irrelevant". (Although thinking on it now I've been imagining the Vietnamese diplomat composed with a silent confidence, which I'm sure is how he managed to appear outwardly, as the professionals do. But, if it was the future of your nation being discussed how confident would you have been? I think now he must have been a little testy, saying "that is irrelevant" as a point of conversational order, like can we receive back to the subject we're supposed to be talking about?) A lot of people hear that anecdote and they imagine, well, what I imagined at first. They imagine the U.S. military winning every set-piece battle between forces any larger than brigade strength, but losing the guerrilla war over every. Looking at things though I've found that not to be the truth. When Viet Cong or North Vietnamese Army forces fought U.S. forces they lost, regardless of the scale of the battle. So yeah, saying "we're winning" in Iraq can be said as honestly as it could in Vietnam, which makes it sound every the more dishonest. There are some differences between the two though. (And yeah, I know I'm definitely not the first to write about why Vietnam and Iraq are different, or the same. We had like twice as many troops on the ground then as we do now, the locals are alot friendlier, dust storms instead of monsoons, dry instead of wet.) I suppose first I should write about why we lost the war in Vietnam. There's a scene in "The Green Berets" (that movie starring John Wayne with the chilly scene portraying an air-to-ground attack by a Puff the Magic Dragon). In this scene a Special Forces liaison to the press is giving a press conference and to impress on them why the Viet Cong insurgents are really bad he says that what the Viet Cong have done to South Vietnam would be the same if someone had killed every Governor, every Mayor, and every Judge in the United States. Obviously this was intended to show the savagery of our foe in Vietnam. What struck me about that though, was that was case in point number one of why the war in Vietnam was one we could not win. There was simply noone left alive amongst the general South Vietnamese population to oppose Communist forces other than Captain Nim, and the Hmong, by virtue of the remoteness of their villages. (That is the V.C. would have assassinated their tribal leaders as well if they could have.) We did catch on, of course. We made an effort to relocate whole villages to areas where we could provide security for them. And, one of the important missions of the U.S. Special Forces was providing security to villagers and local government officials. But as the previous anecdote revealed these measures were already far too tardy. The damage was done. True loyalist local leadership had been pretty well and systematically wiped out. There were those who I'm sure would have liked to have stood up and continued the battle in their stead; but most of these would have been terrorized into inaction. While those who were not, would largely have been at least pragmatic enough to undertand that there's no sense in giving the last full measure of your devotion to a cause that will not win out in the end. It's for this reason that even if U.S. and international public opinion had been completely in support of U.S. objectives in Vietnam we could not have won the war in Vietnam. Why is Iraq different here? Well for one we learned that lesson from Vietnam about 35 years before it became an issue in Iraq. We have made not just a serious, and largely successful, effort to provide security for Iraqi government officials; but we've done the same for the Iraqi public. Now some may respond bluntly no we haven't. Iraqi politicians have been assassinated, police stations bombed, and worshippers at mosques have been blown up. That's true. But, compare that to the level of violence in South Vietnam during that war. The point I'm trying to make is the Iraqi people have maintained an identity unshackled by the brutality of the Feyadeen, Al Quaeda, or the Mahdi Army. These people may live with fear, but they don't live in fea jdw, but you do have the patience to farm it for Y!A points. Reported for spam. O.K. ? (and others) compel me to derive my most important point. That being won or not, neither of the candidates are eager to declare it. They're leaving it open as an issue still in doubt for their possess greedy political reasons. Obama for obvious reasons, McCain because he wants to suggest a vote for Obama is a vote for defeat.

Resolved Question: Who goes to Heaven??
Some of my friends aren't Christian. My best pal is hmong and their religion is shamanism. I have a few friends who are atheist. My favorite aunt and her husband and their kids are also atheist. Do they not go to heaven? Does God condemn them to hell because they aren't Christian? Even if they are really really good people? I mean, my aunt saved my life. This is something that worries me a lot. I need some feedback.

I mean,I do have round/wide eyes and black hair, but I'm not chinese. Why do almost 99% of America think your chinese just because you have round eyes and black hair?It doesn't make sense.I hate it when they say--"hey,you must be chinese, and asian!" Just because a person has black hair and round/wide eyes doesn't mean they are automatically chinese. i know what you guys are gonna say"just adore who u are!" "who cares about what other ppl think" I just want to know why. And I don't look chinese,i look lao/hmong/thai--cuz i am

Resolved Question: wat is the title of this korean drama?!?
okay, at the beginning there is two sisters with their dad. the older sister gives her younger sister their mom's ring. while the older sister kept their dad's ring. then their dad dies. they became orphans. the older sister knew that they have a grandpa in a different town. so the two sisters set off to find their grandpa. on the way, the little sister got hit by a car when she chased after her big sister. the driver quickly took the girl to his home not noticing the police. the big sister lost her little sister and tries to find her. she met with her pal who is a boy. the boy liked her. the boy told these bad guys to help him out. meaning to make the big sister ask him for help. so the bad guys caught the big sister and hit her. the big sister escaped and ask the boy for help. the boy took the girl to her grandpa who is the richest guy in town. the big sister lived still with worry of her little sister. 15 yrs past they every grew up and later on the guy who ran over the little sister with the car tried to rape her. his wife sees him and also his daughter. so the litte sister got kicked out and she lived with an elder lady which she calls 'grandma'. in the home, there is the boy who liked her (he battle good and is a bruce lee fan) there is the grandma's son and finally a girl. the boy and the girl are grandkids of the grandma and are the kids of the grandma's son. later on, the daughter of the guy who tried to rape the little girl found the little sister's ring. so she took it and lied to the older sister that she is the little sister. as this continues, the big sister's bf falls in adore with the little sister. everyone found out that the little sister is the real sister. so the big sister kicked out the fake one. and the real one lived with her. their granpa died long ago in a car accident. in the end, the little sister got cure of a bone disease and wanted to receive marry with the boy she lived with. that is the farthest i've seen the movie. however, it was dubbed and the title was changed into my language. so i cna't find the movie online. and bcuz it was hmong dubbed, a lot of parts were clip off. i think the little sister got blind or somethin' bcuzi also watched this about 5-6 yrs ago. but this is a korean drama. plz tell me the title either korean or english! plz!

Resolved Question: What do I do in a situation/relationship like this...?
There's this guy I really, really like. We just want to date each other...just DATE...but his mom is really into finding the "right" wife for him. And we're still really young. Ages 17-19...but...every I want to do right now is be with him but his family is making it difficult for me. Mainly his mom. She's always talking to him about finding the right wife who can cook, help out, clean, etc. I mean yeah I understand her but I'm not planning to become a wife anytime soon. I just want to be with her son right now. I'm not planning to marry until im ages 26-28. Seriously. I keep my word on that. I just don't know what I should do...should I just date and stay with him or should I start "training" to become a wife when I'm not planning to marry her son right now. It's not that I don't or do want to marry him. I just don't want to think about that nice of stuff and neither does he. We just want to live in the gift and not think about the future...what do I do? And to be more in detail, I am Asian. And Hmong to be more in detail...

Resolved Question: I'm sick of my ex acting like this!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!?
I'm 15 and a sophomore in high school. My ex is a 17 year old senior and I'm GLAD he won't be going to this school next year. I broke up with him cuz he was clingy, immature, and we always argued over something. Well, now I have a new boyfriend who is also a 15 year old sophomore and he's 100 times better than my ex. Only problem is, my ex is jealous (he admitted it) and he won't leave me alone. Like one day he called me and tried to receive my boyfriend's phone number! He keeps saying how much he wants me to arrive back, but I really don't want to(I've made that mistake before cuz we used to be very on and off). I can't avoid him that easily cuz he hangs out with my friends and has the same lunch hour as me. He has said he wants to kill or hurt himself and it's getting pretty old. He's also said he wants to move to another state, which he never has so I don't think he will. I've heard from so many people that he's tried to go out with tons of girls. I can't talk to his parents about it cuz they barely talk English (he's hmong) and they arent' the nicest people. If I don't pick up the phone when he calls, he gets mad and says "Where were you?" or something like that. He'll say things like he's getting married (I know - pathetic) just to make me jealous, and it NEVER works. My new boyfriend is really really nice. I had a crush on him and found out he liked me back, and he asked me out. We went on one date so far and it was at the mall. He actually gives me the space I need and we never really argued. It's been about a month. When I was dating me ex, he said he takes things slow, but HIS version of slow is pretty quick. He told me he loved me the first time he called, and at the time he had just met me! He can sometimes be pretty bossy too, and I have told him that. He always does this "needy me" thing and says he's gonna join the army the next day at school, but guess what - he never does. He tells me he NEEDS a gf, and he really doesn't. It just makes him look VERY desperate. He never leaves me alone. Please don't tell me to receive a restraing order cuz a while back I told some teacher about him and he got called to student services. Well, I later regretted it and felt guilty, so I don't wanna do that again (yes, I apologized to him). I don't wanna date him again! He wanted me to give him a hug when my bf was right there! I don't wanna give him a hug at every. He said it's just a friendly hug, but you don't just go hugging your exes, do you?? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!! I don't know what to do anymore!!!
